IMPORTANT: Please note that the Southbury Hoof it for Haiti race has been renamed to the Deacon Chuck Deitch Memorial 5K Run for Haiti. The race is coming up on Saturday April 28th, and details regarding the new course and registration can be found on the Seeds of Hope for Haiti web site.

The Hoof It for Haiti 5K Run & Walk-a-thon is a semi-annual event held each Spring and Fall. The Fall race is held every September in Rocky Hill, CT. The venues provide an excellent opportunity for the entire family, as well as runners from novice to elite, to participate competitively in a 5K (3.1 mile) run or walk on courses that are USA Track and Field certified. The race includes a Kid's Run for ages 12 & under and a 2.5K Fun Run/Walk for all ages. There is plenty of food and refreshments for participants and spectators.

Founded in September 2008 in Rocky Hill, CT, Hoof it for Haiti brings community awareness to life’s struggles in the impoverished nation of Haiti, provides the opportunity to run or walk in solidarity with the Haitian people, and raises money to support the commitment to parish twinning in Saintard, Haiti.

In April of 2011, Hoof it for Haiti branched out to the community of Southbury, CT with the same commitment, further tying in the needs of the Haitian people after the 2010 earthquake. A 5K run and walk there was the first fundraising effort to establish a lifelong commitment of support to the twinned parish located in Grand Boulage, Haiti. In 2018, this race was renamed to the Deacon Chuck Deitch Memorial 5K Run for Haiti.

Hoof it for Haiti has received a great deal of community support from individuals and businesses through their participation, advertising and sponsorship. More information about sponsoring and participating in this healthy community building event is on this website in the links in the blue side bar. Please consider joining us in solidarity by participating, volunteering or donating so that we may continue to meet the ongoing needs of the Haitian people we serve!!!
